Mystery Guest Appearence
I have installed firefly`s "ah no peeking" hack to my board
and im now, at regular intervals having a mystery guest appearing on the board. Basically, say, two admins are logged in or even one, and you go to the whos online - it will state: Mark - ah no peeking - pmimage - emailimage - IP Paul - ah no peeking - pmimage - emailimage - IP Guest - ah no peeking - - - nameserver IP The "Guest" is not really anyone logged in - its my NS1 nameserver IP The problem is - that when this nameserver IP "logs on" to my board from time to time - whilst I can see my board and login - everyone else hits a server busy try later page :( Any PHP/VB Gurus - got any ideas? Thanks in advance Mark |
It's just like when people see guests doing moderation or administrative actions -- it means they got a "access denied" page and are likely bots or spiders. I wouldn't worry about it but you could ban the IP.

Duh, I found out what it was, although, I should have sussed this a week ago, when I was banning the nameserver IP - my backend.php script ( hack from here ) that places last 10 comments, in an RSS newsfeed, reported 10 lines of No title and no post. Unbanning the IP, fixed this - then I noticed that the guest was on the backend.php and it clicked. An rss newsfeed has to update every half an hour, so thats why this "guest" appeared. :(
