ANyone know of a good Host Master Vbulletin board?
A couple months ago I racked my own server (www.bigkahunahosting.com) and need to find a good board that will help me learn the ropes about such things as installing Apache Cocoon and Tom Cat, questions about cpanel, and how to load up some cool cgi_bin programs for some of my customers.
Does anyone have a board that the can point me to for this help? |
That site looks good!
You might want to try the Specific Sites forums... Satan |
Or goign straight to the sorce of what you are adding is always the best way.

hellsatan -- where is that forum? I could find anything like that on this board or on vbulletin.com.
Neo -- On some things I have, like Apache's site. I can find their papers on Cocoon and Ton Cat -- but I can't figure out how I can install it on my server with cpanel host manager. My main problem is that the hotel where my server is racked (web authorities) does not have a FAQ (under construction) and there are only two posts on their board since May. I'm real happy with the performance of my server with them -- but it is a no-frills company. I can't afford to ask them live questions at $60 per hour. This is my 1st attempt at being a host master and I have a lot to learn. I don't even know half of the questions I need to ask. I racked my own server because every host I used was overextended cause my board (www.moparstyle.net) to slow down at times and was down a lot. I don't regret the choice of going to my own server (haven't had to boot Apache in 24 days!) -- but I need to learn how to manage it. I can't find a place that offers suggestions and answers questions. There has to be one out there and I figured I must not be the only one here with a dedicated server. Hopefully someone else with a dedicated server will know of the board I seek and fill me in. |
hi BK.
a good place to ask might be http://www.netwerkin.com , the admin of the forum dose a bit of server work and might be able to help you :). |
Where did you rack/co-locate your server? Most hosts will answer general questions as long as you are not asking them to setup your system for you :). I would suggest going over to http://www.WebHostingTalk.com, there are a great deal of people over there that could help you out, most are very friendly, although you need to watch out for a few people ;).
