Very annoying attachment bug!
 

If this has been reported already and fixed, then link me to the thread with the fix ;)


Anyway, I've noticed for a very very long time on my forum a certain attachment image being viewed excessively by guests, a very old attachment might I add. I've also noted a very unusual amount of guests I've had lately--and not registering either :(

Continuing with the topic though, I began to figure that something fishy was going on....so I made an HTML file and log out myself, and grabbed the image, and viewed it in my HTML file. Nonetheless, it showed me, as a guest, viewing the attachment (this is a different image one also)! This really bugs me, cause now I know I've been getting fake guests :(

My guess is one of the members is hotlinking the attachment image, which was actualy a signature, to another forum using it for his signature. Or maybe a download link somewhere. Eitherway, these guests aren't on my forum and somehow I need to cease this. I disable the viewing of attachments by guests on the forum, but it still happening.

You would have to setup a dynamic image system. You could always use the viewing system this site used. Where it when to a different page to view images.. but if you want the images to show up on the page then I might be harder.... Might take some hacking ;)
