Admin on own forum

If an admin sets up a forum and wishes one of his moderators to have FULL control of a forum withint the forum itself (I hope this is clear what I mean).
The moderator should be able to perform functions such as local ban and also edit forum name and description and add sub forums to it and place new moderators on it (with moderator powers) and even place new admins on the forum.
I hope that you are all aware of that I am talking about a forum created on a vbulletin board :)
Call it local admin :)

Hmmm...

I see what you mean...

I think you would have to create another usergroup with a Control panel just for them, and make them a moderator of that category...

Satan

I have been searching for this exact same thing for the last 3 hours. Does anyone know if there is an easier way to do this now?

I have 170 areas 'owned' by 170 people and I would love for them to have this power for just their own area.

Starting a new thread instead of bumping a 6 year old thread might have been better. ;)

Why would you want this? You might have moderators for a forum, Admins are the ones controlling the entire board.

:eek:ohh...sorry about that. I was trying to go with a 'flow' type of thing so that the same thing wasn't answered in several different places.

Well the only thing that I do WANT that ties in with this is that the moderator of a forum can update/edit/change the description of their own area, add subforums, descriptions on their subforums, delete subforums. Not anyone elses and not to have any sort of control over my forums. just their one small area.

Adding new forums, chanign the description etc, is an admin task. Don't see this is usefull for a moderator.

(Unless you are renting out forums on your board, which would be against the License Agreement)

KarenneLyn 07-30-2008 12:48 PM

oh no. I don't rent it out. I never even thought about that. You can rent out space on a forum?

hmmmm, nope not for me.

Oh well, thanks so much for your help though. At least it is something I can cross of my list and just keep doing it myself. thanks Marco! you have been a big help!
