I am looking for a similar system (though I already have a vBulletin licence). I would like to provide certain features for paying members like access to an image gallery, private forums and so on.

I need a system to be able to take subscriptions via PayPal, and automatically use the PayPal IPN system to move the paying member into the higher, more privileged account usergroup. I also need the ability to reverse the process and cancel the subscriptions if required.

I would be willing to contribute some $$ for the hacks - can anybody help?

It's summer, and I have a bunch of deadlines - BUT.
This shouldn't be to hard to write. I'll see if I write something and release it.

i thought it was illegal charging money for membership... dont know for sure though...

Quite a few websites use the concept, it is actually not a bad idea but you have to have something to back things up with (ie: a reason for them to pay for the extended membership).; most sites I have seen use the money to support the website, pay for the server(s), or otherwise. It is not illegal to do so.

I am looking for a similar system also.

Any news for a hack like that?

You would probably have to pay for someone to do this sort of hack, many people want it done, but it would be a rather larger hack to do freely (although I am not a PHP guru).

I am sure placing money on the table would attract quite a few people here to do it, although you will have to place up a decent amount (ie: $50 probably would not cover 1/4 of the script).
