How would I deny certain mods the ability to delete posts or threads?

I would only like to do it for certain mods though...

hmm, why make him a supermod, if he can't do such things? ;)

but if you want to do so, you have to hack the ismoderator function in functions.php

What would you change?

if ($supmod[ismoderator]) {
to
if ($supmod[ismoderator] && $action!="candeleteposts") {
