Newbie's question
 

Hi everyone! First time around and this looks like a great place!

I know very little PHP (well, okay... none :o ) so I've never tried installing any hacks, but some of the sruff here looks so tempting I think I'll start learning more about it.

Anyway, I was referred here from the VB coomunity forums. I had a question they said VB doesn't address yet and I have been referred here. So here it is:

I have a member that I wish to review his posts before they show up on the boards. Is there a way to do this?He will be aware of that and I don't mind that it takes a while for his posts to show up.

He's a kid that posts silly things that are not really offensive so as to kick him out, but just sometimes childlish and annoying to our other members.

Any ideas are welcome!

Try the searchfunction, there is a hack called moderation per usergroup which could help you and your problem

Anat, in order to download hacks and view attachments on vb.org, you'll need to go to this page and enter your username. (You will need to use your customer number and password to access that page)

How do you know if they are liscenced or not?

he's a moderator, and i think chen has changed the postbit for mods, so they can easiely see wether a person is registred or not :)

I have done that again (I have in the past as well). Where do I go to see the actucal hacks available?

go to the full releases forum, there you can see all the hacks.

if you can't you aren't a verified user.

if you have a licence and entered it to that form on vb.com, write a pm to firefly, that you have a problem, he will correct it :)

I figured it out by now - thanks :) I am a licensed user and I got the hack for moderating groups of users. I actually went ahead and tried to implement it using the VBhacker program that Firefly recommended, only to find out that it doesn't work with my version of VB (which is 2.03).

Yikes! I guess I have to go and upgrade again... Haven't done that in a while... It went okay last time but I get the jitters every time I have to touch those PHP files :D I hope I didn't do any damage to the existing boards - it looks okay for now.

I think I'll get back to it next week. We're celebrating hubby's b-day on Saturday and tomorrow is cooking day for all the guests.

normally there's a text file somewhere in the posts .... so u can do it manually then...
