Page wrap?

I like the site. One of the features I like the best is how the pages go back to their normal width after someone has posted code (or an unbroken string of letters like a url) that kept the page from wrapping. When someone posts code or a long url that keeps the page from wrapping on my vB all the subsequent posts are also wide and hard to read because of the need to scroll back and forth. Is this a hack or is there another way to get the pages to go back to their normal width?

Whenever someone posts code with a long line, the page will wrap. There is nothing we can do about this, because we don't wrap code (to keep it intact).

Hi Chen,
Thanks for the reply. I understand code tags are used to keep the format intact. Like this.

Code:

<td nowrap background="../layout/search_bg.gif">&nbsp;&nbsp;<input type="hidden" name="s" value=""><input class="searchinput" onFocus="this.value='';" onBlur="if (this.value=='') {this.value='Search for...';}" type="text" name="query" value="Search for..." size="14"><input type="hidden" name="forumchoice" value="- 1"><input type="hidden" name="searchin" value="subject"><input type="hidden" name="searchdate" value="-1"><input type="hidden" name="action" value="simplesearch"><input type="hidden" name="booleanand" value="yes"></td>

How do you get the next message to go back to the normal width? ( Like this one. )

On my vB when someone uses code to keep the format intact all the other messages in the thread become as wide as the one with the code. I would like the other messages to be the normal width like here. How do I do that?

Sorry I don’t have the computer vernacular down.

It's like this by default in vBulletin. Have you changed your postbit or showthread tepmlates in a drastic way? (removed tables, etc.)

Wow 05-09-2002 06:58 PM

No. I have not changed the postbit or showthread templates in any way.

As FireFly said vB works like this by default and has for quite some time.

setting the forumdisplay templates to default can help..
