Installing Lockdown?
 

I'm thinking of buying VB but I want to be sure I can install a hack called lockdown. My friend just bought VB but he can't install lockdown he says that the instructions ask him to edit

"editpost template"
"newthread template" etc.

What the hell is a template? It can't be editpost.php or newthread.php because we've already edited those and we can't find anything in the VB folder that has anything to do with templates. It would be great if somebody could help us. Thanks.

Funny how many questions in 'Pre-Sales Questions' are from people that allready own the board. :)

Yeah okay you guys got me :ermm: but don't think that I don't intend to buy VB. It looks pretty good from what I've seen but I want to get the real lowdown on the product and reading marketing fluff off of the VB homepage isn't the way to do it (yeah I'm a skeptic and even a bit of a pessimist). I just want to make sure that VB runs on my server, to my liking, with my hacks before I give up my hard earned cash (especially since I don't have that much hard earned cash to give up). Cheers!

Well you won't recieve any support here until you purchase a liscence, you'll find that you will get support here to install hacks from many users once you have.

The liscence is well worth it and there is a huge community of people willing to help you in the help forum. Id even personally help you if you asked me to.

Anyway vBulletin lite was designed to let you test and see if vBulletin worked on your server.

buy it my friend, its the best forum out their, unlike other solutions vB runs fast and dosent kill the server, go to vbulletin.com and download vB lite, if that will work, so will the paid for verson, and hacks dont add that much more server strain, also vb pays for itself after a few years :)
