I wish to place the users avatar into one of my pages (tables) under the members name, but can't find the correct $var all I've tried failed.

Could someone list the line to display members avatar and will it be the same code if the member does not have one? when added inside a template.

You can use the getavatarurl() function if it's only for one member. But if it's in a loop then you should get the avatar stuff right in your query, like showthread.php:
