something similar exists - in fact, i wrote it. it's called "Latest Threads on Your Desktop" and it really doesn't have to be on your desktop if you don't want it to be.

go to the full releases forum and look on the first couple pages. you can always try the SE if you wish, but if you want the simplicity of the one you have posted, don't use the SE - look a little farther if necessary for the more "lightweight" version
