email alert of posts for unregistered users

Hi Everyone,

I let unregistered users post. I would like to let them get e-mail alerts when someone replies to their posts. Has anyone written a hack like this? If not, could anyone write one?

How would that work??? wouldnt they have to register for that to happen?
