Subject really.

Make is so the search doesn't just say, yeah I found that word in this thread. Because some threads are like 20+ pages long and then you have to go to each page of the thread and use the browser search and do another search for the word on each page of the thread. OR it could even take you to the page and post that has the word, then maybe down where the page numbers are, they would be highlighted another color for other pages that contained that word. The search feature outta the box for vb is very noobish. It would also be nice to have a feature to search for threads started by a person and search for a word that is in those posts.

As of right now, I know of no hacks that can do this. If there are let me know.

Thanks.

Or you could just chose the 'Show results as posts' option when you make your search. ;)

Gutspiller 02-13-2002 06:05 PM

I always wondered what that did. :(

But, does it cover all my questions/requests?

Steve Machol 02-13-2002 06:09 PM

No it doesn't. But if you play around with the search function a bit you may find some of your questions answered. After all, you didn't know about the 'Search results as posts'. ;)

Gutspiller 02-13-2002 06:15 PM

oh be quiet. I tried modifing the url with the forum id and that was the only thing I could think of.

My brain works on harder problems. I let you guys help me out with the easy problems. ;)

While you can't search for threads 'started', you can easily search for all posts by a person that contain a specific word or words.

Well, that doesn't help much. That's almost as bad as search for "as" on the Internet. You know how many it pulls up, and how many are garbage. :(
