Is it possible to display a "You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons" message to a guest whenever he or she clicks on a forum?
Edit: I found someone on the vbulletin.com boards who had the same problem as me, so I managed to fix it, after some friendly admin gave him the answer. I have a new problem now though, and that's that the whole forum list gets displayed now, even the forums that are supposed to be hidden. Is there any way I can keep certain forums "hidden" even with this turned on? |
Just define the right permissions for guests' usergroup.

and is even easier to do it.

Can view board [Yes/No]
(Selecting No will hide the entire board) Actually, there are no options there that lets me give the users an access denied message. I managed to do it earlie, by hiding all forums manually for guests, and then changing the main options to display the entire board. The bad part was that ALL forums became visible that way (obviously), and I don't want the guests to be able to see the Admin forums on the list for instance. |
there is a hack posted here that will not let you view the forums for a specific group. search the releases area.

Did you ever get this resolved? Or find a hack?
I have a similar issue/problem.. except that I DO want to show (on the main page) "private forums" but when user clicks have a message pop up that says "You are not authorized to view". If there's a way to do this, I haven't found it in the last 3 hours I have been looking. |

I still can't get it working the way I want it to.. Can anyone help? Please? ICQ: 2343624 |
