Hi guys, I am new here and I hope this is not the wrong forum to post this.

I have a hacked 5.47e Infopop Bulletin board on Linux. By hacked I mean I added many hacks to it (as they arenot part of standard feature set for 5.47e ubb) such as Avatars, Yahoo/Aim/Aol hack, PM hack, Gender hack.

What this has done is that it has added extra fields to each member file.

I have about 4000 users to import and about 25,000 messages to import!

I hope someone here could help me with this import script vBulletin has and how it works.

My question is whether I can map the fields in each member file to the appropriate field in the corresponding member file in vBulletin and then run the script to import users? Or ignore other stuff and only import Username, Password, No. of Posts, Email address, Date of Registration (the essential stuff).

How does importing messages work? What about my styles that I use (color schemes, newtopic/post reply icons, folder icons, posting icons?)

I would appreciate any feedback from experts here. Thanks in advance, Regards, Rick.

As the importer is provided on vBulletin.com members area so any questions about it would be more appropriately directed to the vBulletin.com forums

If you are considering purchasing a liscence and this is one of the questions before you do then the Pre Sales Forum http://vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisp...?s=&forumid=47 or if you have your liscence then the How Do i forum http://vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisp...?s=&forumid=29

the bad news: your custom profile fields won't be converted unfortunately. I had over 15 added fields when I switched to vB and had to re-add them

the good news: adding profile fields in vB is literally 100x faster than hacking the UBB for it. Your users can update their info pretty easily too, so its not as bad as I thought it'd be.
