i have been reading over some of the threads about illegal boards and whatnot and i am seeing a trend appearing, they don't want to pay money for a quality product.

In the same way that i would not walk into a shop and steal a camera, i would not go to an unscrupluous supplier of vBulletin, supplying it to the mass market for free, and so having the staff of jelsoft, who no doubt some are married with kids, go without valuble money.

I use vBulletin on various sites daily and would love to purchase it, but at the moment i am too young to have the amount of cash spare to purchase such a product, let alone having my mum let me buy it.

Now all i have to say to those people who want to have a forum but don't have the cash to spend: LIVE WITH IT. There are plenty of alternatives out there, that i am sure are perfectly good for a low to medium traffic site, the new versions of phpBB and ikonBoard are shaping up nicely, and I'm sure that they would do well for you until you have the cash to buy vB.

Anyway, have a good day

You can always get the lease for a year until you can raise enough for the full license. $85 isn't much at all; wash a few cars, mow a few lawns, work at McDonalds, or do some chores. You'll be there in no time. :)

If you are good with graphics, you could always interest someone in a website design (webhostingtalk.com usually has a few people needing some designs for their companies). To me, and being honest, most people that are good with graphics could easily get $85 out of any design (take Corey (C-Pr0mpt) for instance :))

I did a small design and got $75 for mine (would give you the URL but the owner of the site has not placed the actual site up yet - will post a link when it is up and running).

Just my 2cents :) - Hey it worked for me - that one design got me half of what I needed (I did not wanna lease it, I am always thinking of things aheafd of time so should 1 site ever go down, I have a backup idea :))
