I was on http://www.automotiveforums.com and noticed their forums generated html pages for each thread. Is that a hack and if so would it be useful I though it might reduce server load by using more static pages, although it might be worse when there's constant posting.

Hey there, Lancer... :D Igor's using this hack at AF. They aren't really pure HTML files (they're still generated by the server every time they're viewed), but it does allow all your forum's posts to be indexed by search engines; which is always a good thing. :)
