more and more debate is going on about subsription based communities.
Hopefully this is a last resort as the no of members will decrease. I ask for all my members to visit my sponsor (ie banner at top of the page) each time they visit the forum. Next to one does this. Is there a way to monitor who visits your sponsor. You could then encorage your members to click on your sponsor more. I propose this : a variable called support_the_forum Each day the members are encouraged to visit your sponsor They can click on the banner more than once on a given day but they will only be given credit for 1 click that day. If they click 1 or more times each time they visit the forum , their support_the_forum rating goes up, if not it goes down. The support_the_forum rating would be a percentage. ie 80% would be a good overall rating and would be displayed in the post bit template. At the end of the month you could reward the 3 members with the highest rating. Just split the cheque made from the sponsor and divide it to the 3 members with the highest rating. This will be paid easily from the money made from the sponsor. Does this make sense or is it a little confusing?? |
I could see a way to force them to click it, simply require that they visit banner.php?userid=ThereUserId and you could stop them from posting if they hadn't clicked the sponsors.
Rewarding them could also be done similarly. |
Gotta be careful though. Many banner companies prohibit forcing or coercing members to click.

your right
but some companies dont give a hoot - for example games companies its encouraging to know that it could be done though |
