VB3 Using Too Many CPU Resources? Help..

Hey guys, was wondering if you could give me some advice/suggestions/input.

I run a VB 3.8.4 forum on shared hosting, and lately the host has been suspending me because the forum uses too many CPU resources. They said it shows a lot of 'redirects' and possibly outdated Javascript that could be the causes. I don't have a lot of plugins, just a few. I really don't know anything about this stuff. I know basic forum stuff, none of the backend of how it works, etc.

My question is, does this sound possible? Is there a way to update Javascript for the forum? What exactly are 'redirects?' Any other ways I can improve this forum (short of upgrading to a newer version of VB) so it won't keep getting suspended? I can't keep having my forum down so much, it gets some good activity. I can't afford a dedicated server, as it doesn't make me much money.

Thanks so much for any help you can give, I really am clueless to this stuff!

vBulletin 3.8.4 is at least twelve years old. vBulletin 3 has been End Of Life for three years. If I recall correctly it was built on Transitional HTML 4.0 and CSS2. There have probably been half a dozen or more security updates alone between 3.8.4 and 3.8.11.

Redirects could be an internal problem or an external problem or both.

Updating the JS is likely to break your forums.

Maybe someone who actively runs a vBulletin 3 forum can take a look at your and offer their advice.

Mine would be to use more recent software. You can find used licenses for every version of vBulletin for sale for far less than the cost of a new license.

It should be no problem whatsoever to run vBulletin 3 or 4 on most hosts. Shared hosts are generally pretty terrible so it doesn't surprise me that they complain about too high of a CPU usage, I never recommend anyone to run their vBulletin forum on a shared host.

I was on shared hosting with bluehost for many years until they shut me down numerous times for cpu usage.
I moved on to https://ifastnet.com, on shared hosting (Ultimate yearly) and my site uses three times the storage space and resources. Zero issues and little to no down time.
