Registered Member posts going to moderation

A few random registered members suddenly have posts going to moderation. I've tried changing their user group, then changing it back -- no difference. What would cause this and how is it fixed?

If you edit the usergroup(s), "Follow Forum Moderation Rules" must be set to "Yes". "No" will make all posts/threads go to the manual moderation queue.

Additionally, edit the forum(s) with the issue and check the settings under the "Moderation Options" section.

I checked the settings as soon as the issue started, Dave, and they haven't changed. Also, it's only a few users involved, no one else is having the problem, which should rule out the usergroup settings.

I realized we had this exact problem a few years back, and I'm pretty sure it started when host added new security. The site owner recently switched hosting (without letting me know in advance so the site wasn't closed during the migration -- not smart on new host's part, IMO) which may have meant their security add-ons triggered something. There are some other "glitches" happening that are clearly related to the migration (faulty redirect, etc.) so I'm opening a support ticket with their techs.

I don't think a host can cause this unless they messed with your vBulletin settings. Specific sections of code in vBulletin trigger the moderation of the post which must meet certain conditions.

Another place you can look at is AdminCP > Forums & Moderators > Forum Permissions > check the individual forum permissions of usergroups in the forum sections. This page is where permissions are assigned to specific usergroups and forums.

I've checked them, Dave, and they're all OK. If the permissions had changed, then all registered members would be affected. This is only a few being affected. As I said earlier, our previous host upgraded security a few years back, and afterward said they had to "whitelist" exceptions that affected logins and posting. I don't know exactly what those changes were, but I do remember that our site owner couldn't log in through the forums, but could login through the ACP. Likewise, other staff and some (not all) regular members had no way of logging in till host resolved the problem. Fortunately, the members involved are patient about this, and it doesn't seem to be too extensive.

I opened a support ticket with Interserver, so will see what they say. We're having some other glitches as well that involve redirects which they changed.

I had them at "0" to spam check all posts, but tried changing that to 10 to bypass regular members. I'll see if that works.
