Meta Description Tag Location

I would like to add a Meta Description Tag to my vB 4.2.5 website. Can someone tell me EXACTLY which file I need to modify & add the Meta Description Tag code please?

Thank you:)

Look in your templates.

Thanks for the suggestion snakes1100...but I was hoping for something more specific.:)

Someone else has got to have done this before...thus there has got to be a specific area/template to add meta tag info.

Thanks.

P.S. Yes I know about the place in the Admin CP where meta words can be input. I want to add meta tags to my vB site...which is not the same.

Add them to the header or headinclude template

Thanks very much blind-eddie...I'll give it a try.

I've looked at both of these templates in the past...and wasn't 100% sure where to add the meta description code. Is there a special place it needs to go...or can it go anywhere (for example at the very top or very bottom of the template code already there)?

And just to be 100% sure would this be the proper code to use?:

<head>
<meta name="description" content="This is an example of a meta description. This will often show up in search results.">
</head>

Thanks very much sir!:)

One quick additional question...can I add multiple types of meta tags in both/either of the header or headinclude template at the same time (Description meta tag, Keyword meta tag, Title tag, etc.)?

Thanks:)

You will not need the head tags. No, you cannot add meta tags to both header and headinclude template at the same time.

Ok...got it:

- Cannot add meta tags to both the header & headerinclude templates.
- Do not need the "head" tags.

Three questions:

1. Would this be the proper code to add then (without the head tags)?

<meta name="description" content="This is an example of a meta description. This will often show up in search results.">

2. If I add meta tags to just one template (either the header or headinclude)...can I add multiple different meta tags at the same time (for example Description meta tag + Keyword meta tag + Title tag + etc.)?

3. Just so I'm 100% sure...where do I add the meta tag code. Is there a special place it needs to go in the template...or can it go anywhere (for example at the very top or very bottom of the template code already there)?

Thanks very much for the help!:)
