i figured this was wanted after reading some nasty flames at vbulletin.com i THINK this works i can't test it... but here it is this is a beyond compare dump ... it shows it top one you find bottom you replace :) enjoy! i will try to correct any errors you find i hope there arn't any.. remember THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED BACKUP or it is your fault if you muck your database over

feed back is good guys i don't know if this hack actually works

Sorry, I haven't tried it. I don't mean any offense whatsoever, but it seems to me too risky to try something that hasn't even been tested, where it comes to such a vital part of the operation - the login details.

Perhaps this should have been better served in the Beta forum, where we could have helped you develop it further?

Anyhow, just my two cents. Since I've not tried it, for all we know it might be a masterpiece :)

well theres a reason i couldn't test t... i have a leased licsense and no real server that can't get out to the net :( i was hoping someone that has these... could try it out

You are allowed to install a second vbulletin on your server, just don't open it to public and all is good:D

TheUnforgiven 11-26-2001 07:56 PM

TheUnforgiven 11-26-2001 08:03 PM

Warning: Failed opening '/home/oreocla/public_html/vb2/admin/install.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in Unknown on line 0 that sucks i don't get it... i havn't changed anything that would do that wtf

It would also be helpful if you could post instructions in the regular format of "find this, replace it with that, find this, add that, etc."

WizyWyg 11-27-2001 05:57 AM

Or next time before posting a hack, make sure it works. Belongs in BETA and probably will remain there until someone proves that it works.

You know, you could easily set up a search/replace to find every instance of 'md5(something)' and replace it with with 'something', I don't know why this has to be so hard...

And if you're complaining that your scripts won't interface with the encryption, toss an md5() around your password forms...

sheesh.
