Adding Meta Data to Website
Can someone tell me exactly where I need to add meta data for my website please?
- Exactly which file or template do I add the meta data to? - Where exactly in that file/template do I add the meta data? - Does the meta data need to be entered in a specific area of the file/template (top, bottom, etc.). - Is the file one of the vBulletin templates? Basically I'm not 100% sure if there is any meta data at the moment...knowing the exact file/template will help me figure out if there is any meta data there presently. If there isn't...I want to add some. Website is running vBulletin 4.2.5. Thanks very much.:) |
Go to Options, General settings, you will add your meta tags there.

If you want to add custom meta tags such as viewport, theme-color etc, then create a new plugin at hook location parse_templates and add the following code:
Code:
$template_hook['headinclude_javascript'] .= ' |

Yes...I do have key words entered in that area of the Admin CP. But was hoping to learn how to do it by adding the info to the proper file/template of vBulletin (or any other files for the site). This vBulletin Admin cp input area I think only allows individual words...I was hoping to also have some sort of meta-statement for my site. As with all of us...trying to optimize SEO as much as possible.:) --------------- Added [DATE]1548364800[/DATE] at [TIME]1548364800[/TIME] --------------- Quote:
If I can do this with the code you provided (thanks very much)...where exactly do I enter the meta info in the code (please pardon my newness to this)? Maybe it would be easier if I provide a simple example. If I wanted to do the following for my site in terms of meta info: - Meta statement = Discuss fast red cars with big engines. - Meta words = fast, red, cars, big, engines How would the completed code below look within the code provided above?: Code:
$template_hook['headinclude_javascript'] .= ' p.s. Looks like the vBulletin quote system isn't showing the "code wrapping" very well. |
Or instead of adding extra javascript to parse, you can just modify the headinclude template, which is the recommended place to add/edit additional meta tags.
Use this for keywords: Code:
<meta name="keywords" content="keywords, go, here, add more, right here" /> Code:
<meta name="description" content="add your description" /> |
