Created a New Thread, now you must post

Is there a Mod, that anyone knows of, that can 'force' members to participate in a Forum more.

I have many members who 'just' create a new thread and then wander off - returning only to their own threads and addressing comments made by others who are more generous!

I am looking for a mod that, once a new thread has been created, that member has to comment on at least 3 (number adjustable) threads created by other members.

In other words before they can create another new thread, they have to "pay" with 3 posts...

Is it possible to automate what is becoming a practical workload on the Mods trying to keep everyone to the 'rules' of the Forum? We manually object if a member adds a new post to one of their existing threads that isn't pertinent to the original.

The Forum allows members to post their own Poetry for feedback/etc. Too many create a thread and don't offer any feedback to others - that's a contentious issue that crops up frequently.

I don't know of such a product, however I would think such an addon could lead to potential abuse to get around it, by people posting crap to fulfill the posting count.

Indeed Mark - I accept that you're right in that it doesn't stop folk from 'playing the game'.

Thanks for your response

Geoff

That's exactly what will happen.

The same thing happens when you have a minimum posts limit before the member can post links or create a signature. You just end up with a lot of crap posts while people try to meet the minimums.

Thanks, you and I realise that.

Actually I find that in most cases if someone finds they can't add a signature they don't bother, and move away!

But at least I'm going through the motions to satisfy some of my members! :D

Yes. It does help to at least slow down the register-and-spam crowd but best advice is keep the requirements short so you don't annoy potential good members and proliferate the junk posts.
