is vB the way to go?
hello,
I use to be a vB owner a good ten years ago in the gaming world. However, me and buddy we wanna do something different and decided to give vB a go again. I'm scrolling around reading post and it seems vB might be dying? I see old time mods who were my go to's back in the day for help have left. I see activity not where is use to be. So my ? is before I drop hundreds of dollars on vB is it still the safe and best forum out there? I want the best!!! and I hope I finda few ppl who will speak the truth please.. any info would be greatly appreciated |
If it works for you then go for it.
I wouldn't start a new site with vbulletin, but that may just be me. |
who would u go with? so my gut feeling is right vB isn't what it used to b? sigh.

I think more so forums are dying, not vBulletin particular. If you need a forum, then vBulletin would be a perfect choice. vBulletin 4 if you need heavy customization, vBulletin 5 if you're fine with the basics and don't need many modifications.

I like xenforo, discourse and I've been checking out a script called elgg which could really be amazing. vbulletin 4 is pretty good and fairly solid with many plugins and themes. If you've used vb before and liked the results then check out 4. I can't in good faith suggest vbulletin 5 though, I'm not a fan of the direction it went. I would first find out exactly what you want your website to do and work backwards from there. |
