Ok, this is how it works

Lets say, you just sign up. Your title is "newbie", and you have a specific, unchangable avatar to the newbie rank.

at 100 posts, you get the rank of member, and your avatar changes to a member avatar, mods have special avatars, ect ect ect

well i am not using it so i can't be sure, but i always thought it's already built in ... :)
