Git Service for Devs/Coders (similar to Github)

I have started a Git website a little while back, its very similar to GitHub with most of the features that Github offers. The site is running on the Open-Source Git software called "Gogs".

And since its running the Gogs Git software, anyone that uses the service is able to make their Git Projects completely private for free. Unlike Github which charges you a monthly subscription fee to be able to make your projects private.

I thought I would post the link to my Git Service website, so developers/coders can have another place to work on their projects with the ability to have their project(s) private for any reason. Without having to pay anything extra for that small feature.

And I am offering this service completely free, there are no payment or extra features you have to pay for. What you see on the site right now (After you login), is everything. Nothing is hidden behind a paywall.

vB.org Admins/Mods - If I am not allowed to post a link to my Git Service, I am so sorry, and I will remove this post if that is the case. Or you can remove it for me. Again, if I am not allowed, I am very sorry. I am just trying to give the Devs/Coders more options for the creation of their projects. I just want to try to give back to the community.

EDIT: I will also be setting up SSL/HTTPS very soon. It will take some time though, when I can get some free time.

-Thank you,
Gary (TheTechGenius)

You answered your own question even though it was a statement not a question lol, point is you're not asking for money and it's entirely free so it's allowed!

Maybe you should put in to have Rule 16 updated from the rules page:

Quote:

16. No posting messages anywhere on this site that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, forums, email address, business, MLM, activity, or other entities that you have an affiliation with (ie. no self-promotion).
And change it to say free sites are ok. Also, what if "free" sites have advertising?

Over the years there were free sites I definitely did not post because they ran afoul of this "rule" it will be good to know I interpreted it wrong.

Ohh ok. lol. Thank you!!

And yeah the site is completely free, no subscriptions, no fees, and no advertisements of any kind. The site is VERY clean, and pretty fast. I just wanted to give devs, coders, designers, another platform to work on their projects, without worrying about paying money to get more features.

Im not a greedy person, thats why I don't even have advertisements on the site. I'm not saying using advertisements is greedy, im just saying I wont use ads for a site like this. If I put ads on the git site, its like I would be getting paid for other's work and projects, and I really don't like that idea.

And to be honest, im not trying to promote my site or anything like that, because I didn't create the Git Site for any kind of personal gain. Like I said in the OP, Im just trying to give back to the community, and not just the vB community, but all Devs and coders out there.

Thank you for the info though!!

No you read it right  so he's good here, his site has no ads (didn't see any when I disabled ad block on his site the other day) and he's not self-promoting.

What if a free site had advertising... it would then be no because they're generating income which is self-promotion for your wallet :p. Unless let's say it's an ad for an affiliate site well more so sister site, example if a free site advertised another free site because they want others to know of another nice forum or similar interests site it would then be allowed, so in actuality it would depend on the ad(s) content.

Well back to topic, version controllllllllllllll!
