How to change text colour?

Hey! I'd love to change the above images black text to white! I've looked around the forums and saw some suggest changing the "addtional.css" with the "body a" tag or what not, and I've tried that and it hasn't worked. Anyone know how to change this?

Try the following style variables: vbcms_header_color, sidebar_header_color.
