Animated Notifications

1 Attachment(s)
Overview:

This product began as the result of a request to have a blinking new PM image like we have here at vBorg. However, I have expanded on that to include all of the vBulletin notification types, and some that result from third party products. You can also define your own custom notifications to work with this product (the .GIF icon needs to be put in the "images/misc" folder). You can define the order in which the alert icons will appear from left to right. The alert icons I have included are animated Skype smilies, and you can define the maximum height for these icons. The icons will appear to the left of the other toplinks element, but within the element itself. You can set whether the notifications being displayed with an icon are removed from the notifications menu, or you can decide to hide the notifications menu altogether (only recommended if you are sure you have all possible notifications displayed with an icon).

Compatibility:

Tested and working on VB 4.2.x and may work on all 4.x versions of vBulletin.

Backup/Warning:

This product does not alter the structure of your database, however it is always good practice to make regular backups and you should make a backup before installing ANY new mod.

As always, products are USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I will provide support and do my best to help but no absolute guarantee is offered.

To Install:
  1. Download and extract the attached .zip file.
  2. Upload the contents of the "upload" folder to your forum's root directory.
  3. Follow AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product.
  4. Click on "Choose File" and browse to the product .xml file that was packaged in the .zip file.
  5. Click "Import."
  6. You MUST enable the product in the settings before it will function.
  7. Configure the remaining settings to your liking. Each setting has a detailed explanation of its use.

No, this is for when someone has given you reputation. :)

As far as I know, that's not part of the default vBulletin notification system (except by email), unless you use something like:

Subscribed threads in notifications

Is that what you're using? If not, which mod are you using?

Very nice.

I would only explain in greater details how to create custom notifications (with at least one concrete example), and also include this information:

the .GIF icon needs to be put in the "images/misc" folder

Question please, because my skins are modified I do not see notifications, I see them only in default skin, which code is that makes the difference?

Thanks

Thanks

Your "header" template has to have the HTML element:

HTML Code:

<li class="welcomelink">...</li>
in it, or the addition of the icons can't take place. :)

Stratis 12-16-2016 05:30 PM

Yep that's missing for sure, I will see it, thanks for the info :)

Thanks for another great mod Mark. The animated notifications mod has really increased post 'likes' being exchanged, which seems to encourage members to post more.
