Guests not seeing the todays posts result

Its weird that only logged in users can see the result of the todays post link.
Guests are seeing:
Code:

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
I have tried this but still getting same result/issue
Code:

search.php?do=getdaily&contenttype=vBForum_Post
In the guests usergroup, ability to search is set to YES..

Did you try to see forum as Guest with other browser rather than the one you use as member or what else.

And is the permission name set to "searchbuttons" in the relevant entry in the Navigation Manager (usually Forum-Quick Links)?

Maybe check permissions for each forum individually in Forum Manager - yes you can give global search permission in the usergroups settings but you can also turn same off on a per forum basis which will effectively null the global user group permission for that particular forum.
