Is there a way to display a set of rules when a user clicks 'Post New Thread'?
 

Essentially I would like my users to be given a brief reminder of things like titling guidelines, acceptable hosts for media content etc at the top of the thread creation page.

Is there a plugin that can do such a thing?

I have attached a simple mod that will do what you want. It will display a bordered box (whose border is created using your native stylevars) into which a message will be put:

To set the message you wish to be displayed, edit the following phrase:

Note: In the screenshot, the wrong product is shown, but I have corrected that, the name of the phrase is the same.

I used a phrase so that you can use translations if needed.

You can format your message using HTML. If you aren't familiar with using HTML, then let me know what you want the reminder message to look like, and I will write the code for you.

Just import the attached .XML file...there are no settings, once you import it, it is active and working. If you want any added features or changes, please feel free to let me know. :)

This would be very nice if it can be done in future:


* Option for who usergroups will be visible.
* Where to show up: newthread, newreply, showthread.
* Field for the three above option to write HTML

I've been working on a more featured version of this, and selecting exempt usergroups is one feature. Also selecting active forums, setting a post count cut-off, and deciding whether users can collapse the element are among the new features.

I can see adding the choice for a new reply, but I don't see much use to show the message to people simply reading a thread and not replying. :)

Very nice, actually showthread is when admins have in settings to show quick reply by default, with ought pressing the button, any way you know better. thanks

Very nice Mark, tested in vb4.2.0 and vb4.2.3, all ok for me except "Thread/Post Count Threshold" seems that it does not take effect :) at least for me.

Are you using thread or post count as the threshold type?

In both situations, but i used wrong philosophy, Member has 10 post/treads
and i put in the settings 11 :)
I had to put 9.
