How much work is involved in taking a design from vb3 to vb4?

Hey,

I have a very custom design for 3.8 but I am looking to upgrade to vb4 - I really need to keep my custom style, so I wanted to know how much would have to be changed.

Thanks for any help

Is the developer of the style no longer in business? That would be the first place to ask.

If not, someone would actually have to see the style to have an idea of the level of work involved.

You can try this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=233837

vBulletin 3 is made using tables, vBulletin 4 is made using regular div's. The whole style has to be remade in vBulletin 4, it can not be copypasted over unfortunately.

You cannot copy paste anyway since the template syntax got updated.

There is no reason a vb4 style cannot use tables, its perfectly valid html still - in fact some areas of vb4 still use them.

Based on your current style, should not be hard at all nor take much time. What takes time is fine-tuning it per say i.e. putting a spit shine on that sucker! Basic entry of color codes, specify images if using gradients and swap a logo (maybe search here for 3 Part Fluid Header and that will allow logo on left/tree icon on right etc).

^ All this based on just viewing the Canary forum in your link I didn't bother viewing the other site since you didn't specify for which site this would be but not hard at all if you know stylevars and what to edit.

Referencing this may help you do it yourself:

Don't become frustrated OR think it's too much to process, it's not just takes time like anything... working on a car etc .

No this is for a poker design - Http://www.DeuceAce.com - Sheldon from vbskinz but he doesnt do forum styles anymore

I think it would need quite a bit of work..

I'm sure you'll be able to find someone to copy that theme for you in vBulletin 4 here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=30

It depends on the design you want to convert to.

More complex then more money you need to spend for it. :)
