Disable automatic email communications to specific users or groups

Hi!
I need to disable email communications to specific users or groups (better if I add a user to a group), I mean that I've users that don't wanna receive pm/messages/topic/other and birthday mail, how can I disable it?

I'm sure that they still want receive "recovery account mail" :)
