Prevent Email Address Change

NOTE: This add-on is designed for use with vBulletin 4.2.1 or higher. It may not work with earlier versions of vBulletin.

Prevents members of usergroups from changing their email address.


* INSTALLATION *
-----------------------
1) Import the product XML file (product-snognoemail.xml) into the Product Manager in AdminCP.

2) Go to ACP->Settings->Options->Prevent Email Address Change, turn on the system and select the usergroups you don't want to be able change their email address.

Why on earth would you want to do this? A member changes ISPs or loses an email address in some other way and they cannot update their profile. How does this benefit anyone?

I was wondering, infact I am still wondering why this is necessary.

Depends on if your members acc is worth something enabling this would make it harder to trade/sell

I wondered the same thing. But, a client of mine asked for it as did someone here on vB.org.

Personally I wouldn't use it, but some people do want it.

Just me, but it seems like you could still pass the email change via POST, or am I crazy?

That won't work, that's handled in a plugin using the profile_updatepassword_start hook. It changes whatever might somehow be passed via post back to the email address already in use.
