Upgrade Question

Currently running 3.8.8 and considering going to V5, I am trying to determine what issues might arise to eliminate down time. The site has a form hack that does verification emails to gain access to a hidden part of the forum. I can not locate any recent info on form hack and wonder if that feature has been integrated into V5? Anyone had experience with this upgrade. I do not want the hidden forum to become open for everyone to view so I am concerned with upgrading. Any info at all will be greatly appreciated.

vBulletin 5 is still very limited when it comes to plugins and customization. If that's important to you, you may want to consider to go to vBulletin 4 or stick to your current version.

Well I am just thinking that if I upgrade, why not do it once and get to V5 instead of doing this and going to V4, then later going to V5. This Form Hack that was installed is what does the email verification and at this moment it is not working, I am looking for that cause now, but all info on Form Hack seems years old, so I thought maybe this email verification was integrated into V4 and V5, but I can not find any info.

Email verification is a plugin but if you what to upgrade go for vb4 is the best option for now

No one will suggest "upgrading" to vbulletin 5.

If you want to upgrade, go to 4.

Do your research on what issues vbulletin 5 has and what core functions you'll lose going to vb5.
