Users IP's being banned
Hi,
I am getting emails from users that their IP's are banned, but the IP's are not on the IP banned list. We are using Spam-O-Matic, vBulletin 4.2.2 Anyone have this issue? Thanks |
Don't use IP options with Spam-O-Matic because any user who has a dynamically generated IP addresses and whose IP address was used at some point to spam will be blocked by spam-o-matic, which is totally separate from the IP block list built into vbulletin. In general you should only rely on email addresses for spam-o-matic as neither the IP or username options reliable to use.
|
How do I change this, in Settings?
|
Yes, in the spam-o-matic settings you can choose which options you want to be considered for banning.
|
I have had the 'Test the IP address against the StopForumSpam database' disabled, but it continues banning, now, dozens of legit members.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

That modification hasn't been updated in nearly three years. The developer hasn't been online in nearly two years. The modification is not supported and is not marked as reusable code. Therefore, I must agree with Max above. Find another solution.

Thanks.
I fear when I disable it the website will be inundated with spam. |
