help with vbcover products

Hi all

I have bought 3 mods from vbcover.com, and now I changed my site domain name, then these addons stopped working, so is there anyone can help with his encoded mods?

The addons are:
  • iReviews
  • iBid
  • CMSMagic

You would need to ask on the site where you bought the mods from.

As I know Lionel past away on Jan 15th, this year.

I know that and I'm sorry, that is why I'm asking here, maybe there is a coder have permission from him to manage his work, or someone can fix changing domain issue with his ioncube encoded addons.

I would find contact details and hate to say bother his wife... but some form of asking permission should be done since I assume (You know what they say about that so YOU need to do proper research not depend on my words here as I'm no expert on legal matters) any copyrighted work on his death would be transferred to his wife/heirs. Once a person dies who had copyright to said work, the copyright holds true for the life of said person plus seventy years after from what I've read.

I'm not 100% sure about all the aspects of this however if you changed domain while he was alive, simply contacting him and asking for a newly generated file/key would suffice but that is not an option now. I don't see an issue with you hiring a third-party for them to modify the files for your site alone but they can't "supply" any of the files i.e. re-distribute in any manner (assuming again) so they will need to edit the files you already own, on the server now and they should be fine modifying files you already paid for so the mods work as-intended. The way I remember his mod working though was by using IonCube and other to prevent piracy and that means the files are encrypted so how is one supposed to modify code they can't interpret? This was meant to connect to his site to verify licensing details if I'm not mistaken and to also hide his source code in some respects.

As I know the way that the late Lionel has coded his licensing system, I can assure that the only ways to solve your problem are:

1.- The site vbcover.com to be live again. The licensing system can connect only with that domain. After the site comes back live, someone must change your domain in the license database. This solution seems to be almost impossible.

2.- To find someone who can decode the files and then remove the license check. Don't know if it against any law as it's a special case, but it's your only possible solution.

Last but not least. Even if you find a way to solve the license problem, other problems should arise soon. eg Most probably the mods should be incompatible with vB 4.2.3

Thank you for your replies
So, Is there any good coder can decode the files and remove license part? you know I can't share my copy with the public but if there a trusted coder I can give him my files to solve this issue.

To remove the license code is very easy. Usally is in the top of each file. But for decoding the files you need a hacker and not a coder. Decompilation is not an easy task for normal coders. So you need to look in special sites (warezz??).

PS: If it helps you the scripts are encoded with ionCube.

This is an online ionCube decrypter- http://www.decry.pt/

Catch is you only get one file decrypted for free. Not sure the pricing on additional files.

If there is functions.php try first with that file. At least I was adding the license check in a function and I was calling this function from the top of all other files. If it's like this then change the function to return always true.
