Processing XML
 
upon trying to upgrade from 5.8 to 5.1.9 as advised by the message board of my account i am getting as far as step 4 Status: Processing XML, Step 4 of 20 its sits and waits etc for ages you get the drift then tried f5 to refresh page as i have seen in another post same thing happens any idea whats going wrong

Check the error logs of your web server and of PHP, see if there's anything useful in there.

I would normally go to my host cPanel and click on Error Logs.

i have looked at the error log and found this when i ran it


[Sat Aug 29 17:30:58 2015] [warn] [client 86.164.89.146] mod_fcgid: read data timeout in 45 seconds, referer: http://www.xxxxxxxxxx.com/core/install/upgrade.php

any ideas

The timeout setting for mod_fcgid has to be increased. Might want to contact your host about it.
