Testing Forum

I want to create a forum that only I can see. I guess I need to create a new type of user group that only I will belong to and then create a forum that only that usergroup can see? Never created either one so this would be brand new, just making sure I dont go thru all that trouble for nothing.

Thanks!

Just turn it off and then only you will see posts etc. You could shall use htaccess to allow your IP only if you want.

That will be very intrusive. I just want to try stuff without them seen them....

you could run a testsite on your computer by using xampp

I wasn't talking about shutting your forum down but keeping youe test forum off. That way only admins could see it.

Creating a test installation is an option, but I think goodhunting1 might be asking for the best way to create a private sub-forum on his public site.

Oh yeah, I see now. It was really late when I replied and I should not have. lol I totally thought he wanted some kind of a test site.

Very easy to create a forum that only admins will see. Use forum permissions.

Just create a new usergroup, forum section and use:

/admincp/forumpermission.php?do=modify

to modify which usergroup can read/write the section. Just replace yoursite with your actual site URL :p.

thanks guys, I was looking for something only I could see. We already have an admin forum. Maybe I will just keep it simple and leave it at that.

It's fairly simple to set up, I'd be happy to help you set one up if you'd like. :)
