How long is the upgrade process from 4.2.2 to 4.2.3

For those of you that have upgraded, how long did it took? I mean after the backups have been done and such. I am sure the size of my database and other differences could influence on how long but I am trying to get a idea so I cant time myself correctly and not end up starting a 6 hour process 3 hours before when i want to go to bed!!! lol!!!

Thanks!

Well, only taking into account from the time you put in the url to run the upgrade that's about 3 mins. Backing up well depends on each site so can't comment on that. You also need to take some time to upload the files, but also get them ready before hand, but all in all 30 mins to one hour, but depends on each site I can do mine in about 10 mins but that's because I have done many

It took us about 40 minutes including backups

Make sure your server is running at least php4.

Ya, he does. He shortens it to PHP4 :p. I did the update today, only took less than 5 minutes. But overall about an hour seeing I also had to backup the database + forum files.

well, it takes me 6 min to backup the database which ends up being about 70 MB. but it takes me a bit over 3 hours to back it all up (under 4 gb) via FTP down to my PC. I guess godaddy might be throttling down my process. I have time Warner with 15 mb.
I will probably do my backup during the day then start the process an hour or 2 later.
thanks!

No, I don't think they're throttling you. It sounds about like the right speeds. I'm on a 30Mbps plan with my provider :)

P.S. In case you wondered what the abbreviations are, here’s a quick list:

Megabyte = MB
Megabit = Mb
By extension, speeds would be measured as such:

Megabytes Per Second = MBps (if this was the way it was actually measured)
Megabits Per Second = Mbps
