New/Returning Members Visitor Message

1 Attachment(s)
This product is designed to send a visitor message to all new users once they have completed all verifications, and/or returning members (who have been inactive for a defined number of days). The author of the visitor message can be one or more users chosen at random which you define in the product's settings. The body of the messages are also defined in the settings, with designated replacements for the username of the recipient, your forum bbtitle, and the username of the author.

When a new member registers, they may be sent a visitor message to welcome them:

And when an existing member returns after a certain number of days, they can be sent a message to welcome them back:

Update: version 1.1
  • Database is updated so that the author of the visitor message will appear to have visited the profile page of the new user.

Update: version 1.2
  • Returning members (who have been inactive for a defined number of days) can now be sent a visitor message.

To Install:

Download and extract the attached .zip file.

In AdminCP go to Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product.

Click on "Choose File" and browse to the product .xml file that was packaged in the .zip file.

Click "Import"

You MUST set your settings to enable the mod. Each setting has an explanation of its use.

This add-on doesn't send an email, it posts a visitor message on the wall of a new/returning user.

vBulletin already is set up to allow you to auto-send an email or PM to a new user, but this add-on utilizes the visitor messaging system. :D

You should of posted more screenshots many don't read what's in the first post or don't read English well and a screenshot will help them understand

Okay good point, I initially thought there is no need to show a visitor message...we all know what that looks like. :D

Hey Mark,

From time to time this stops working and it won't post on the walls.

With no more than that to go on, I can't really offer any advice. It works without fail at MHB.
