Hide certain subforums from forum index display

How can I show some subforums, and hide others on the index?

You can edit the forum permissions to set which usergroups can and cannot see particular forums. :D

Well I want everyone to see this particular forum which is an archive, just not showing up on the forum index, but only once you go into the parent forum.

No easy way to do that. You can set the display order to 0, so only people who search can find it.

WHy don't you want it on the home page?

You can set display order to 0, and then post a link to the subforum in the description
