Not so many extensions for vB5?
 

Hi,

I wonder why are there not so many extensions in compare with vB4? I know that vB5 is around for some years i believe for about 3 years and still just not even close to the amount of extensions like vB4 got.

So i guess it would be better to use vB4 instead of 5?

It's true. There are various reasons for there being fewer extensions. I guess the biggest reason is that there is not a complete system for extending it, so many things aren't possible (yet?).

There are many people who believe that vb4 is the best choice. I guess it depends on what kind of site you are creating.

If you are in need of certain plugins or want to heavily customize your forum, vBulletin 4 should be your choice. vBulletin 5 isn't really customize-able, you will face limitations.

There aren't many plugins for vBulletin 5 because the amount of hooks is low, hooks are used to "hook" into certain locations in scripts so you can execute tasks when something happens.

If you just want a simple forum, vBulletin 5 will be fine for you.
