Mobile suite

Do people like the vbulletin mobile suite or tapatalk? All I can say is that the vbulletin reps get back to me immediately with questions and tapatalk appears to ignore me.

Don't like both

Because I changed my theme into responsive design hence It's not necessary to use mobile theme or tapatalk.

You should use responsive theme which got on vB5

I want to sell a mobile app, so I need either the vbulletin mobile app suite or the build your own taptalk. Are there any other mods out there that are similar to the mobile suite? Otherwise I am getting it today.

Please ask any questions on vbulletin.com about the mobile app as they are best to answer your questions

You should probably ask on a 3rd party website not affiliated with either vBulletin nor Tapatalk to get unbiased answers.

Do you already have a very popular forum that would warrant someone purchasing an app to access? If not simply having a mobile app to be purchased isn't going to make you any money.

Fin13.
If you require a professional branding.. I would recommend Vbulletin Mobile Suite.
As Joe, replied above, the proper comparison can only be given by 3rd party sites.

I had some similar questions I got answers from here:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum...-to-understand

Hope that helps.

You can see the vBulletin Mobile Suite in action by searching Android or Apple app stores for the vBulletin Community Forum app.

Hello Joe..
Few questions related to app.

1. I guess we obviously require vbulletin hosted and running to be able to use this app ?
2. Can i close the forums.. (inaccessible for all except admins/mods/super-admins) and make people to use only app, in case they plan to use forums ?
3. Can i use only mobile app, (with web/desktop version of site closed for both users coming via mobile browsers and desktop browsers)
-- I want to force users to use my app to access the site, and make the same unavailable every other way.
4. Will my users be able to register using the app this way ?
I NO, can this be done via custom programming ?

Thanks.

The app is not designed to be used in lieu of the web forums. It wouldn't be a supported setup- in fact during initial setup of the app it is required there be at least one post in one guest accessible forum.

However once that has been done I would strongly suspect in VB4 you can create a custom plugin that would display a message to users not using the mobile app that they have to use the mobile app for access. I am not sure how you might do that in VB5 but it is likely possible with custom coding of the forum.

You cannot do any custom programming to the mobile app itself. You will only get compiled files you will not be able to view or change the source files. Your only customizations are some options you can choose like colors, images, and advertising options.

Yes you do need a vBulletin forum up and running to install and use the app.

Yes you can allow users to register through the app.

Can you please help me understand this part in easy/layman language..
{I entered the topic as found this idea to be GREAT by OP. Some excellent way of selling ad based apps and paid apps using vbulletin, without accessing the actual websites.}

I guess, this will be only fully supported by 5.x and not by 4.x ?

Can my modifications on web version, work on mobile version as well ?
I do not care for custom coding the android app, till its available @ cost I am paying for ;)

Thats the best part, I appreciate..

Thanks for clarifying same..

But still some questions which I am unsure about asking again (This time for both 4.x and 5.x)
Can i close/turn off my web/hosted version of forums to all my existing/new users.. and make/force them only use the mobile app (ADROID OR IOS as supported) to regiter and/or do needful with forums.

Big Thanks for clarifying much details.
