Restricting New Members From PM System
 

Hi, Would anyone know of a mod that stops new members from using the PM system until eg they've made X posts and have been a member for Y days? I've been searching but I'm not seeing anything. Possibly I've missed one? It seems as far as the ACP goes there's just a global on/off switch?

Make a new usergroup (Change usergroup settings to what you need) that all members join by default when they register, then when they have x amount of posts they are auto moved to a group with the permissions you set in usergroup permissions

Go to Usergroup Manager > Add New Usergroup
Create Usergroup Based On - Registered Usergroup > Go
Give it a new name - NewUsergroupName
Create Permissions Based off of Usergroup > Registered Usergroup
Save

Now make a Promotion (Usergroups > Promotions)
Add New
Usergroup - Registered Users
Posts - xx
Days Registered - yy
Promotion Strategy - pick which you want
Type - Primary
Move to - NewUsergroupName
Save

Usergroup Manager - go to edit Registered Users
Maximum Stored Messages - 0
Save

Thanks ForceHSS - You made me notice that setting the PM Quota to 0 in effect bars a usergroup from using the PM system :-)

Yes, sorry I didn't see Lynne's post until I had replied to your's. I tried to post a separate reply to and like Lynne's post but the forum wouldn't let me. Maybe it has flood control or something.

I was already using the promotions system with some of my other usergroups so the 0 message quota in effect disabling PMs was a eureka moment for me :-)
