Which is the best registration options?

I have the spam mods, and spam has been cut way down, even without using captcha, etc. I was wondering if anyone has streamlined the registration process, wherein, after you register you do not have to wait for an email to confirm posting/account, but can start posting right away to the forums? Has anyone used this, pro's, con's? Thanks.

You need to tell use what spam plugins you have and what group, new members go into if default members group what are the settings of it. I use Spam O Matic not really to stop spam, but for other reasons ie it will send new users to a new group I made that has limited posting and it will auto move them when they reach 10 posts and I have it set up so they are not aware they are in a limited group

I myself use this native feature on all three of my vB sites, no email verification required.

No issues? What I have noticed is that I get quite a few people registering - check IP's, and no spam listing, but I don't know if they don't understand the email notification part, etc. as the account seems to lie dormant... thought I would give the no email thing a try and see if it changes. Where do I change this in admincp to allow no email? Thanks again!

I don't require email verification because I believe the annoyance factor it causes people far outweighs any benefits it gives. It's about preferences.

BUT, if I had a site like here at vBorg for example, where email verification is proof of a license standing, yeah I would require it.

I just don't see the point of it, for just a general information/chatting site.

P.S. "User Registration Options" in ACP, I believe.

If you follow OzzModz tutorial for stopping spam on your vB forum, you won't need to do anything extra. And the good thing about his tutorial, the end user doesn't have to do anything, everything is done in the background behind the scenes. No Captcha, No Security Questions, No Email Verify, No other spam plugins, etc...

I have been using his method for years, and I have yet to get 1 post of spam. However, there is nothing, no plugin, or mod that will stop real human spam accounts. But that almost never happens, its mostly Spam Bots going crazy with spam posts, and his method stops those spam bots in their tracks.

Here is his Method to stop vB forum spam:

That's coming soon though.
