Comments per Post (Comments for Single Posts)

Hey,

Does anybody know of a mod that allows comments per post? That is, you can create comments on a single post?

Is this a particularly difficult project to code?

Thanks.

Perhaps this mod, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=243767

Thanks, Ozzy, but it seems to me that mod isn't working properly with later versions of VB.

This particular feature would be very useful and is making me consider switching to Xenforo or IPB. I wonder why it was removed from VB5.

Well there is alot vB5 don't have that it should, but that is a whole other topic. :)

Perhaps you can pay someone to make it work correctly. If so you can post the request in the Requests for Paid Services
forum.

VB5 has comments per post. There is a comment button on every post in my forum (5.1.4), unless you mean something different.

True, that option is available in vB5, as you can see here, http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum...45#post4238645

Oh, I had thought they removed it! Thanks. But after doing some reading, I'm not sure I want to upgrade to VB5. It seems there is a lot of controversy about its state.

ozzy47 12-31-2014 12:45 AM

In my honest opinion, I would not. I would stick with vB4 as long as possible. :)

I like VB5 and see potential for it in the future when people get used to the coding style. Features like the comments which we use heavily on my site are what I like about it. A lot of the issues people have with VB5 including myself, are self induced by messing with settings that should not be messed with. For example, the channel member and channel owner permissions settings among others. I agree they should be able to be modified, but should be available in an advanced AdminCP state with a warning stating the issues that may arise from changing them.

Current developers may not like it or even ever write code for it, but new developers coming in on VB5 who take the time to learn the coding structure will eventually replace the void. It's not impossible to write code for VB5, it's just different. Good documentation would help bring developers to the platform. IMO, this is just as big of a problem if not more than the missing hook system.

It's been to years and no new developers have come in yet. Where are these developers going to come from?
