Changed human verification and now I am seeing tons of spam

So as the title says, I changed my human verification from a question to a recaptcha and now I see near 100 spam bots trying to register every day. I have attempted to ban email addresses but this seems like an steep uphill battle.

I'm looking at using Spambot Stopper by kh99 for a method to prevent them from registering at all. This is the first plugin I will be installing on the forum myself. Is it pretty self explanatory as to the necessary steps to make it work? Is this plug in one of the better to use against spam bot registration?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If something was working good on your site, why change it? You can revert back to it.
I understand we all want to try new things also and this mod that you're referring works really nice also.
Pretty simple installation. :)

Also,You might want to take a look at this:

You say "trying to register." Does this mean unsuccessful attempts?

Our web host required us to change the human verification on our forum as we have recently been placed on the black list due to a spammer I guess.

The spammers attempting to register are placed in users awaiting email confirmation. Can you delete those in that folder with one click or does it have to be individually? Or can you set something up that will auto delete them if nor responded to in a time period?

Thanks

You can mass delete all users in that usergroup.

End it all - the article linked above is one I consulted on.

How do I mass delete all users in the, User awaiting email area?

What do you mean by "End it all - the article linked above is one I consulted on."

I saw that thread and it is where I found the one spam program to hopefully prevent spam bots from registering at all.

You need to use all the mods in the article, not just one.

Oh okay, so how easy is it to install these mods? I haven't installed a plugin on my forum before as I just took over control from the previous admin. I don't want to break anything while installing the new anti spam mods.

Can anyone here give me some good instructions as to how to install these mods?

Some are easier than others to install. You need to at least be familiar with using a FTP Client and managing the products & plugins in the AdminCP. But that article should give you some info about installations.
