List of Plugins, Extensions

Hello,

I am Close before buying vBulletin.
Was testing it the last 2 days and I like the Administration Features and the social Groups.

But 1 Thing I couldn`t find.
When buying the Software, which Extensions or Plugins are available?

For me buying the Forum Software is ok, but I wouldn`t want to pay for single Plugins.

So is there a list of available Plugins?

Can I install the Plugins via the Administrator Pannel from a list - or do I have to download each Plugin by my own and install it?

Greets Erich

Are we talking about vBulletin 4? There are a bunch of free add-ons here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=245

You install the plugins manually: you upload files (in case you have to) and import a .xml file in the admin control panel.

But you want to use those plugins. I don't blame you. Actually this is the well known saying for plugins at all (any forum, any framework). Similar to "I'm willing to buy the house but I wouldn't want to pay for furnitures".

Really can't understand the reason. Do you think that to code a plugin or design a style, is a few hours work? Believe that some plugins that you'll find here (same in other forums, same for Wordpress, same for Joomla etc), maybe are some months work. Coding for a framework is much more difficult that coding single PHP scripts because you need to read/understand and follow some special coding rules. The same applies for designing a style comparing with simple HTML templates.

As I said before. I don't blame you. I'm blaming the "defacto" that exists for plugins.

And yes, especially for vB4 you'll find a plethora of well coded plugins and styles.

Agreed to create a style for vB 4 takes probably a total of around 20-25 hours work. I always just love those who say, "Well, why can't you do it for $50.00?". Sure I'd love to get paid $2.00 an hour thanks....

How can a plugin can be inserted in vb 5.1.5? The admincp does not have the plugin option tab.

I'd stay away from vbulletin 5 for at least another year.
There are loads of free plugins for vbulletin 4 and 5 here at the org.

The section is called "Products & Hooks" in vB5.

Technically speaking VB5 does not support plugins- it supports products AKA extensions. You can still add-on to it but it's a different way. Each product will have installation instructions.

As I don't have upgraded to vB5, I was unable to check it on my own, so reading about "Plugins" I thought that the all the menus under the Menu "Products & Plugins" (in vB4), has been removed.

So, talking in general, what has been removed is only the hooks?. Not that bad for me as very rarelly I used them and only for adding some menus in usercp or an additional tab in user profile, something that can be done in addons page(s). Finally it was wise that I never used the forums/threads engine for my mods.

Who knows, maybe I'll give a try, if IB reduce the upgrade price.
