What are you doing about DEAD Craigslist Links?

Craigslist finders and posters are a PITA. At first, I set up a forum just for those listings and it got out of control. There are craigslist ads throughout my site now and the links are dead in seven days or less. The guys like the ad finders, but there has to be a better way.

What are you doing about the dead links? I did a search here and found nothing negative about their dead links. I set up a classified ad section for them, but they want discussion capability about the ads. Unfortunately, they post only the link, no text, no photos, so when it's dead it's REALLY DEAD!

Ya know... I don't think I've ever had anyone post a link to Craig's List—alive or dead.

But the question you raise has larger implications....people do post links to things, and sometimes what they have linked to goes away. I don't ever go through years of old posts to check the links. Maybe it would be a good idea.

If we have a lot of dead links in our forum, I'd be curious to know if the exalted Google penalizes our forum rating for this.

Paul here: http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites Its a classifieds site that is free for people to post their items for sale & services. Its quite annoying because there are a good majority of people on there who are frauds and Craigslist does nothing about it. They have no way to regulate it at all. Could have been a great idea in theory but it did not turn out that way.

@oldengine - Why in the hell would you let them post CL links anyways when I'm sure you know its a either a meat market or a place that many people get ripped off. Personally i would not allow CL links on my site, problem solved.
